Seminars
Christian Family Institute strives to assist families and individuals in developing new insights and skills in anticipation of coming life transitions.

Pre-marital Preparation Program: The Pre-marital Preparation Program is designed to help couples avoid the common patterns that can destroy connection and help in protecting the things that promote intimacy. Pre-Marital therapy can help in identifying both the strengths and weaknesses in a relationship. It can also help the couple to establish simple but powerful preventative measures.

Couples Communication Program: Partners learn (11) interpersonal skills for effective talking, listening, conflict resolution, and anger management. Whether as marriage enrichment or as part of marriage counseling, these skills help you build a more satisfying relationship.

CPREP
(Prevention and Relationship Enhancement Program for Christians):
Both scripture and research clearly suggest certain behaviors are destructive in relationships (e.g., Proverbs 18:13) and certain behaviors are constructive (e.g., James 1:19). Where do people learn and practice constructive communication and conflict management skills? This is one place they can do just that.

CPREP is education, not therapy. Research shows that while therapy can be extremely helpful in certain situations, much of what goes wrong in loving relationships has much to do with never having learned the skills and principles associated with successful relationships.

Speakers Bureau: Our staff are available to speak to your church or organization on a variety of mental health topics. We will work with you to design what you need: from a 45 minute talk to a week-end retreat. Topics include:

Marriage Enrichment Series

Parent Education

Caring Skills

Divorce Recovery

Family Life Retreats

Managing Emotions

Parenting Your Teenagers

Marital Communication

Controlling Your Anger

Internet Pornography Abuse

RelationshipCare: The objective of this training is to increase knowledge and skills in reaching out to people who are forming and adjusting to relationships. Participants will be encouraged to put their new skills to work for their church under the supervision of their pastoral staff.

Participants will also be helped to identify when problems exceed the scope of their training and ability, and how to refer to professionals. This course may also be a stepping-stone to other courses which will be offered in the future to “prepare God’s people for works of service.”

This course will cover counseling skills directed at helping others select and maintain healthy relationships across the life cycle. Units will cover dating, engagement, premarital counseling, marital counseling, marriage enrichment, adjustment to divorce, and blended family adjustment.
