A Clinical Fellow of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy is a licensed mental health professional with specialized training in psychotherapy and family systems.

They evaluate and treat mental and emotional disorders, other health and behavioral problems, and address a wide array of relationship issues within the context of the family system.  Marriage and Family Therapists understand people do not exist in a vacuum; everyone has a family that has influenced who they are and how they relate to others around them. An AAMFT Clinical Fellow is concerned with the overall, long term well being of both individuals and their families.

For marriage and family therapists, the unit of treatment isn’t just the individual, even if only a single person is coming to counseling.
